On June 15th 2021 Ambassador Martin Weiss presented the Letter of Credence to the Governor General, Sir Cornelius Smith. We had worked a year and a half on this visit which was postponed multiple times due to the pandemic. Austria was proud to become the first country to be received by the Governor General as non-resident representation in the Bahamas after 16 months of suspension of those visits. The Consulate regrets not having been able to invite the Austrian community to a Reception this time, as restrictive meeting protocols are still in place.

On 26-October 2019 Austria celebrates 64 years of freedom and full independence. Since we await the visit by the new Ambassador, Mr. Martin Weiss, in the coming months, we will invite the Austrian community for the arrival of the new Ambassador, rather than in October.

On October 14 to 16, 2019, Ambassador and Mrs. Waldner paid their farewell visit to the Bahamas. We flew to Grand Bahama, to visit 3 Austrian families there, and see the enormous damage inflicted to the Island, and neighbouring Abaco, by Hurricane Dorian, last month. The Ambassador was deeply moved by the sights, and contacts with the survivors. On the last day, we were kindly received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We thank Ambassador Waldner for his sympathy, interest and multiple visits!

22-24 February we had the pleasure of another visit by Ambassador Waldner and Mrs. Waldner, and the talented Guschlbauer Duo from Austria. They performed twice in Nassau, for the Austrian community on 22nd, and at a public concert at St.Pauls on the 24th. Huge applause and passionate feedback at both events!

On 15 – 17 November 2017, the Ambassador of Austria to the Bahamas, His Excellency Dr. Wolfgang Waldner, visited the Bahamas, and made Courtesy Visits to Government entities in Nassau.
